Ixonos helped KONE create a new way to showcase different elevator designs on premise, or wherever needed, in order to make the purchase decisions as easy as possible for the customers.
KONE was preparing for a major product release and during the planning process, their top management came up with the idea to make use of tablets in the marketing. This was something that the company, operating in rather traditional manufacturing business, had never done before. In order to be able to realize their vision KONE needed an innovative partner that could help them design and develop an application that would evolve their digital marketing.
Ixonos helped KONE to design the application, and also delivered the application on iOS platform. The target audience was identified as architects and the company’s own sales staff. Architects are major influencers in selection of elevators and escalators, and Kone staff can use the application to present the company’s offering in a new and engaging fashion to the customers. The application gives an immersion of being inside a building with several floors, each displaying new Kone products. Moving between the floors represents an elevator effect with 3d parallax scroll. In addition to technical information, the products are displayed using design themes such as “New Luxury”, “Nouveau Glamour”, “Classic Chic” with a rich set of pictures from sample interiors.
The application acts as an interactive branded product portfolio with social media and direct contacting features. The approach enabled by the application for showcasing elevators is more natural for envisioning the atmosphere of the final building, interior and space. By presenting the products in a real-life simulation, KONE makes it easier for customers and influencers to adopt the designs and make the purchase decision. With the new app, KONE has experienced better customer engagement, and it also constitutes a way to differentiate from competitors. The app has also been published in Apple’s App Store.
