In-vehicle infotainment systems are transforming the way we experience daily commutes and family road trips. Ixonos designed a highly sophisticated connectivity concept that integrates core smartphone functionality and contents with existing and new in-vehicle infotainment systems.
Our in-vehicle connectivity concept seamlessly integrates various types of mobile devices into different in-car systems, such as digital displays, controls and car audio systems. It allows consumers to use their mobile device’s applications – phone, email, web browser, media player, internet radio, GPS navigation – through the vehicle’s digital display or a special user interface.
We designed the concept to be compatible with various devices running on different software platforms and utilizing industry standards such as DLNA, Bluetooth and VNC. The concept’s transparent, protocol-invariant, standardized integration extends the in-car infotainment capabilities without constant update requirements. Consumers no longer need to purchase phone connectivity sets separately: they can take advantage of their existing phone subscription’s data package in the car.
Our connectivity concept also provides a channel for offering various sorts of new informative and entertainment services to the passengers. It can even be used for pushing adverts to the car’s display screens. The communication channel is two-way: the concept allows car manufacturers to collect information about the car’s real-life performance and about consumer driving habits.
